My clients have been in business for several or many years and are intelligent, motivated, and principled people who want to communicate their ideas effectively and creatively. They let me into their boardrooms, backrooms, sales meetings, planning meetings, computer networks, and, really, their brains. By sharing how they think and operate, I can write in a way that best represents their organizations and delivers the materials they need to grow and prosper.

After decades of working with organizations to help them effectively uncover and communicate what makes them different and better, it has become second nature. I can advise you on content strategies that align with your brand and goals and help you hit your numbers.

It’s impossible to become a trusted resource if you miss deadlines, don’t deliver on your promises, or write copy that doesn’t do what it’s supposed to. Plus, there’s the integrity thing. Aiming for excellence feels fantastic.

The art of the ask.

There’s nuance in getting readers to respect what you’re saying and want to take the next step.

Before the 2000s, I was considered an expert in conceiving and writing B2C and B2B direct mail marketing campaigns. This led to a specialization in major donor fundraising campaigns that included packages with six-figure asks — and later to white papers and articles with “soft sell” that positions my clients as leaders who deserve attention.

I have clients whose clients are picky.

I often work with advertising agencies and marketing firms whose reputations depend on their ability to deliver results. If my copy doesn’t deliver, they look bad in front of their clients, or worse.

Through agencies, I’ve been fortunate to write (and keep writing) for some of the most successful enterprises in the country and learn from them in the process.
